Five years ago I found myself sitting in our tiny NY apartment feeling entirely derailed. There I was with a degree in business and a great job in the corporate world, yet I felt as though I was living someone else's life. I needed an escape, something that allowed me to find ME. That's when this hunk o' love gave me a camera.
I spent every free minute adventuring with that camera in hand. The feeling I had looking through my lens was inexplicably beautiful. I'd return home feeling more alive than ever. Was this for real? Could I actually build a career as a photographer? I'd look at Deryk and he would so confidently say "You can and you will - keep going".
It wasn't long before I was photographing some of the most precious moments in peoples' lives, trading in my desk job to start my own business, and mentoring other aspiring photographers through their own entrepreneurial journey. With his unwavering support, love and trust in me - I found my purpose.
